The Lumenis LightSheer DUET is an aesthetic laser system that specializes in hair removal. Similar to the Lumenis LightSheer Desire, the Lumenis LightSheer DUET is also a 2-in-1 machine powered by Vacuum Assisted High-Speed Integrated Technology and ChillTip Technology.
High Speed Vacuum Assisted Technology
Gentle suction draws skin into the handpiece, so the skin is stretched thinner and the hair follicle is brought closer to the laser source. Competing melanocytes are spread further apart, as the laser energy is applied to the target. The follicle is damaged and the skin is released.
High Speed Vacuum Assisted Technology – Advantages
Efficacy: Reduction in competing chromophores enables delivery of laser energy more efficiently.
Safety: Less energy is absorbed by the epidermis and lower fluence is required since the target is closer to the energy source.
Decreased Pain: The unique vacuum mechanism activates sensory receptors in the skin that reduces pain during treatment.
Treatment Time: The large (22x35mm) spot size reduces treatment time as large areas can be covered more rapidly. In addition, due to the vacuum mechanism of action there is no need for gel or anesthesia.
ChillTip Technology
Pressing the handpiece compresses the skin so that blood flow is constricted and the laser’s energy is better absorbed by the hair follicle. Skin is continuously cooled as the laser energy is applied to the target.
